DBCF is the state agency responsible for: supervision and regulation of Mississippi's state-chartered banks, credit unions, and trusts; licensing and regulation of residential mortgage industry participants in Mississippi; and licensing and regulation of nine (9) different industries generally classified under "consumer finance" including: small-loan lenders, money-transmitters, check-cashers (pay-day lenders), title-pledge lenders, pawn shops, motor vehicle sales finance lenders, consumer loan brokers, debt-management (repair) companies, and insurance premium finance lenders.
